5 out of 5 stars It's OK. You can cancel your gym membership   July 12, 2010
Anthony D. Lewis (Cambria Heights, New York United States)
For the last few years, I've been in a struggle with my fitness. I started taking my health and fitness seriously in 2005, after years of sedentary living and a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes in 1999. At my heaviest, I was 301 pounds at 5' 8" tall. Not good. When I started working out, I was 275 lbs. Using another piece of recommended equipment (Urban Rebounder) along with a modified diet...I was able to get to 243. In 2007, I was given a clean bill of health. Anyway, at some point, I needed resistance work to tone up. I decided to join the YMCA at a discounted rate. It was nice for a while, but my work schedule only allows me to go early in the morning. Eventually, with the early rising and an unwillingness to get out of bed, you start making excuses not to go. Even at a discounted rate...if you're only going twice-to-three times a week, it's a waste of money. So one morning, I say to myself that I lost my weight working out at home. let's get back on that program. After seeing the Total Gym infomercial, I figured there was someone making a reasonably-priced offshoot. After searching the internet, I came across Bayou Fitness' line of products and decided on the 4000XL.

It was ready to use right out of the box. As one review stated...that was the hardest part of the set-up. Once out of the box, it was ready to use. In just trying to get familiar with the machine, I was getting a good workout. I've had it for about a week and a half, using it almost every day. Because it's sitting right there, there are no more excuses to make. I am already feeling the burn and seeing and feeling slight changes in my body. I have a LONNNNG way to go, believe me. But I am on my way.

I'll be canceling my YMCA membership. You can cancel your gym membership too. It's OK. This is a great piece of equipment. You'll feel it working, so you will use it. I wish I bought this four years ago,

I just got my new total trainer 4000XL today and I am very pleased.
The set up was easy and after reading the owners manual and watching
the instructional CD, I hopped right on and started working out.
This item is well made, sturdy, fluid, and comes with all the accessories
you need to work your entire body out. It is a fantastic deal for $401.00
which is what I paid. The company shipped it via fed-ex and it arrived
at my door just 3 days after I ordered it from Amazon. I totally recommend
this product from Bayou fitness and also recommend that all new
owners read the manual and watch the instructional CD before getting
started for safety purposes. I started out watching the video, then pausing
after a few exercises so I can try them out. Great deal and great product so far.

5 out of 5 stars Great machine for the $   December 12, 2009

Really great for a medium user. Heavy duty frame, well made. I'm 6'4" and fit on it easily. I paid $400 and believe I would have to pay 3-4x as much for a Total Gym that would work for me.

I turned 60 when I started to use the 4000XL. It gives you a great workout, a fantastic variety of exercises and is very well built.
After one month only, one of the rollers broke and Bayou Fitness were very helpful and immediatly sent a set of 4 rollers free of charge.
Very happy with the product and I warmly recommend it.

I received the total trainer in less than a week after I placed the order. It's a durable product. It's a great workout for glutes and thighs, which is the main reason I bought it. If your looking for an all body workout this is a good purchase to make.
