Amazon.com Product Description
The only professional home fitness system that features breakthrough Total Nitrocell Technology (TNT), the Bio Force 1.7 home gym includes everything you need to build muscle, gain strength, and lose weight. The TNT system relies on two nitrogen-charged cylinders to create resistance rather than funky weight plates. These cylinders provide the machine with remarkably fluid resistance all the way through each exercise, helping you work your muscles through the entire range of motion. Whether you want to build big, ripped muscles or long, lean, sexy muscles, the TNT weight resistance system is the way to go. The Bio Force 1.7 also makes it easy to switch resistance levels, with an advanced slide-n-lock mechanism that adjusts from 10 pounds to 170 pounds in seconds. And changeovers from one exercise to another are lightning quick, with no dangerous weight plates to move or awkward bows to adjust. Instead, Bio Force changeovers are designed to maximize workout efficiency, so your exercise routines become simpler, faster, and more effective.

The Bio Force 1.7 works every muscle group in your body, with multiple arm articulations for your chest, shoulders, and arms, a lat developer for your back, a leg developer for your quads, hamstrings, calves, and a two-position seat. And to help you get fit the right way, the machine comes with a comprehensive guide demonstrating more than 100 body-shaping exercises for men and women, a healthy eating plan, and an aerobic guide. Surprisingly compact, the Bio Force 1.7 takes up less space than a treadmill. The Bio Force 1.7 measures 65 by 82 by 52.75 inches (W x H x D), weighs 174 pounds, and carries a 12-month warranty on the frame and parts.

5 out of 5 stars Good All-around Machine   July 25, 2010

I've had the Bio-force for about a month now and I was able to pick it up on clearance for $400 (not at Amazon). However, when you purchase the Bio-force by itself, be aware that it does not come with the hand grabs or ankle wraps (or at least the one I got did not), so you'll either need to buy the accessory kit from Bio-force or pick up some other types, which will cost an additional $30 to $80 dollars depending on what attachments you prefer to use. I picked up the Champion Barbell Single Chrome Handle Cables Attachments through Amazon and I'm pretty happy with the way they perform, although getting them on and off the hook takes a little bit of finesse.

I went to the store not actually planning on buying a home gym. I just wanted to get a power tower to do pull-ups and dips. The bio-force was next to the item I was looking at (clever product placement) and it was only a couple hundred dollars more (which may seem like a lot, but not when you consider all that the Bio-force can do) and virtually used the same amount of space. So I decided to get the Bio-force and am very happy with the decision.

As mentioned in other posts, it does take time to set up the machine, but they do a good job on the instructions and the packaging, and there is a lot of it. We are still in the process of getting rid of all the cardboard that comes with it. It will fill at least a standard Recycling bin 2 to 3 times depending on how well you cut down the box. And lots of plastic to have to get rid of. Other than that, give yourself 2 to 4 hours to assemble, preferably with a second person helping. It does come with all tools necessary to put it together, but if you have electric ones, they will save you some time. I just used the tools that came with the unit.

I've used the machine religiously for about a month now with only a few days off here and there. I already am seeing the benefits of the machine. It's nice to have a pulley system for certain exercise because it is really hard to do some with just free weights alone. However, I still have dumbbells that I use for certain exercises as I find that they are easier to use, such as bicep curls, lateral raises, and so on. Not that you can't use the Bio-force for those exercises, I just prefer the free weight feel. Also, since I don't have the Bio-force handles and went with the Champion Chrome style, it's virtually impossible to do a hammer curl with those Champion attachments without breaking your wrist. The Bio-force handles look to have more rotational range of motion. So I think to have a complete body work out system the Bio-force along with a few sets of dumbbells (whatever weight that you would use for curls and some shoulder exercises) you'll have everything you'll need for strength building and maintenance.

Overall, I think this is a great machine, especially for those who don't feel comfortable at the gym, or hell, just don't want to be in a gym setting. I know I don't. I don't need to smell someone's BO working out next to me, or the guy on the Exercise bike with a pool of sweat underneath him (hopefully he wipes down the machine, hopefully...) With the Bio-force you can do sets during commercial breaks of your favorite show, and the switch between exercise and weight is very minimal. There are some quirks, as mentioned by others, but it doesn't take a lot of time to change anything on the machine. If you are looking to get a machine that can cover just about any exercise you need to do, I wouldn't hesitate in picking up a Bio-force 1.7, especially since they have the new 2.2 version out (220 lbs. of weight) you can pick up the 1.7 on a good discount.

Also, I don't know if anyone noticed in the instructional book that the Bio-force pictured has additional handles on the seat, you'll see the guy grabbing them when doing leg extensions, that would be a nice addition to have on the unit, not sure why they didn't stick with that particular set up. If you look under the seat, you'll see where the handles would attach, so I wonder if they actually have an attachment you can get for that. That would certainly help on the stability and shakiness you feel when doing leg extensions and other similar exercises.

5 out of 5 stars awesome machine!   June 12, 2010
Coach T
I just bought my BioForce TNT 1.7 about a month ago. Although I'm not into body building, I am a Physical Education teacher and coach with 21 years experience in the field. I bought this primarily for muscle tone. I'm 43 and don't care about building mass. I just want to stay "in shape". This machine is smooth, has great resistance, is well built, and the change over time between exercises is almost nothing. I'm a big fan of circuit training and this is the best home gym I could find with quick enough change over time for this type of workout. This is what I was looking for in a home gym and the BioForce meets MY criteria. I would highly suggest this machine to anyone looking to improve their overall health and muscle fitness.

5 out of 5 stars Bioforce...best for the money...and best period.   April 29, 2010

I have tried the Bowflex and as has been expressed in more than one review the weight effect is not constant through the entire range of motion. The Bioforce in addition to the superior weight simulation is $1000 less than a roughly comprable Bowflex model. You do have less of a warranty, but if I need to replace one of the hydraulic tubes, cables or any other part it won't cost $1000. What the heck if I buy another one it won't cost the $1000 dollar price difference. Bioforce is the best and is at the best price...no contest.

5 out of 5 stars Top quality at every level   April 3, 2010

My main purpose in posting another 5 star review is to counter that ridiculous one-star "review" by someone who appears to not even own a Bio Force. Beyond that, I can only endorse the positive comments made in the other reviews. The Bio Force is exceptionally well made, assembles without difficulty, takes up minimal space in the room, and provides an outstanding workout experience.

One hint (mentioned in the instructions) that is worth emphasizing: before assembling the unit, go buy a new carpet or pad, lay it on the floor where the Bio Force will permanently rest, and assemble it there. It has rollers on the back side that theoretically enable you to move the assembled unit around, but that would be a challenge. I found a thick 45 x 65 inch carpet at Wal Mart that was perfect for the purpose.

One more: the kit supplies all necessary tools, but you'll probably be happier using your own Phillips screwdriver and a variable crescent wrench. A metric socket set would help, too, but the wrench suffices nicely.

4 out of 5 stars Great resistance workout   March 11, 2010

I bought this home gym for my husband. He originally wanted a Bowflex, but after we saw the BioForce in a sporting goods store, we wanted it. We were impressed with the smooth mechanics of the pulley system, and the price. I found one on Amazon for less than the store and purchased it.

It is a great home gym, but there are a couple of things that are different from the one we saw in the store (1.7 model). The one we bought from Amazon does not have handles on the seat back and seat. It would be nice to have them to hold on to when doing leg extensions and kick backs. The other difference is that the one we bought on Amazon weight resistance is in increments of 5lbs, and the one in the store is 2lbs. It would be nice for me as a woman to have the 2lb option, but for my husband, he said it didn't make a difference to him.

Other than that is has been great for resistance training, toning, and building muscle! It was a great price and the shipping was fast!
